How to tip when staying at hotel

December 9, 2008

Certainly restaurants are no only place where you are expected to shell out tips, even your hotel attendants to deserve their share of something extra. So here are some easy and smart things that you should keep in mind when staying in hotel to make it a nice and richer experience.

When you arrive at a hotel after a long flight, don’t forget to tip the taxi or limo driver as he safely arrives you to the hotel. Keep in mind that 10 to 15 percent of your total fare is cool. But if you are driving your own car, give the valet attendant Rs 50.

Always keep in mind that the bellman that assists you with your bags and luggage deserves Rs 50-100 depending on the weight of your bag. Slip in the dough when he shows you to your room. Don’t forget to tip him at the time of your checkout from the hotel.

The concierge- a very important functionary capable getting you anything from dinner reservations to tough to score theatre tickets deserves Rs 250-500 for the same. Make sure you tip him at the time of service or at the end, whichever you feel like.

Always keep in mind that if gratuity is added to your total room bill amount, then there is no need to give additional tip to attendants. But if you are really pretty much happy with attendant’s services, then you can add Rs 50.otherwise you can add 15 percent of the bill as a tip. While staying at hotel, if you make request for special items to get delivered to your room, then don’t forget to give Rs 50 per item as tip to your attendant. Remember that the maid too deserves an Rs 100 as tip per day as well.
