How to take care of your Winter Clothes
With the advent of winters, one gets into the job of opening up one’s woolens and sweaters. Taking care of winter clothes is a tough ask as you need to ensure that they are protected from attack of silverfish as well as washed properly so that they do not shrink in size. Since winter clothes are not that inexpensive that they can be used and thrown, you need to take proper care of them. Given below are some tips to effectively take care of your woolens so that you remain protected from the harsh winds of winters.
During the summer months when the woolens are packed, they are vulnerable to attacks from pests and moths. Thus, you need proper storage methods to keep your woolens safe and fresh for every year usage. We generally tend to pack woolens without washing the. However, to properly safeguard them, you need to hand-wash or preferably dry clean all your winter clothes before storing them. This would eliminate any attraction for attack from moths. It is always better to preserve your sweaters and coats in plastic zipped bags along with using mothballs or naphthalene balls to prevent pest attack. However, if you have small kids at home these mothballs are strictly not advised as they are poisonous and can cause various unwanted incidents. Even while hanging winter clothes in your almirah, ensure they are hanged in cedar hangers, in an area safe from water. Moreover, always ensure to keep your clothes in a clean closet.
When you wear any clothes, they are bound to get dirty and thus cleaning is an essential element for ensuring proper hygiene conditions. However, cleaning or washing woolens can often lead to their shrinking. It is thus advisable to dry clean them as cost of dry-cleaning is much less than the cost you would infer on their loss.
Follow these essential steps to take care of your winter clothing so that they remain safe and healthy to protect you from many winters.
