How to Take Care of your Jewelry

January 8, 2009

Jewels are almost like a part of women’s identity and you will rarely find any woman who does not indulge in its shopping. While shopping for jewelry is fine, it is important for you to keep these precious jewels in a proper condition so that they stay with you forever. Gold is precious and diamonds are forever; let them remain in good condition forever. How to do you ensure this is not tough as given below are some simple steps which will help you to take proper care of your jewelry.

Jewelry can be of various kinds- gold, silver, diamond, coral and pearls amongst many more. Almost all the jewels apart from pearl and coral can be cleaned by washing them in a liquid solution with mild washing solution. However, be very careful while washing your jewelry and do not wash it under running water as you might lose it and it might also get damaged by the force of water.

To clean gold chains, you can use toothbrush and a mild and warm soap and water solution. After washing it, you must dry it with a soft and dry cloth. Your diamond jewelry can be cleaned the similar way. Also, to keep your diamond jewelry in perfect condition, you must get it checked by a professional jeweler once a year to ensure that the prongs and mounting are in perfect condition.

There is also a special liquid available for cleaning of jewelry. Silver polish can be cleaned with the help of silver polish which will also help in regaining back its shine. Similarly, for a regular cleaning process of amber, wipe it with a cloth dipped in warm, soapy water and dry it with a clean cloth. Along with taking care of the cleanliness of your jewelry, you should also be careful and particular about where and how you store it. Keep it in a safe and secure place as jewels are precious and need proper care and safety.
