How to Take Care of Permed Hair

May 26, 2009

permedhairWe all get our hair styled in various ways to get that glamorous and eye catching look. Perming hair is one such stylizing technique in which you get your hair curled to get a look that suits you the best.

However, perming hair too involves chemicals and thus you need to take extra care to properly take care of your permed hair. Given below are some tips that can help you out.

Many of us get our hair permed quite often to maintain a perfect look. But getting your hair permed again and again can prove harmful for the health of your hair as perm involves lots of chemicals that can harm your hair.

Thus, be wise and intelligent and only get specific sections of your hair premed that really need them instead of getting whole hair permed again.

After you get your hair permed, your hair stylist will give you certain instructions to follow to prevent the permed hair getting spoilt. For instance, you must avoid shampooing your hair immediately after getting your hair permed.

Also, you must use natural shampoos and there are certain shampoos made specifically for styled hair and you can use them to prevent them from the harmful effects of chemicals. It is always advised to use light shampoos and conditioners.

Permed hair often gets tangled. Thus, you must use a wide tooth comb to slowly detangle hair. Also, to ensure that your hair remains healthy, you must get a regular trimming done to prevent formation of split ends.

Many people who get their hair permed often complain of dry, frizzy and dull hair. This is because the chemicals used in stylizing products often sap essential moisture from the hair. Using natural oils like olive and jojoba oil can help in keeping your hair naturally healthy and beautiful.
