How to Roast Pumpkin Seeds
Did you know that along with providing a nutty flavor, pumpkin seeds are also healthy? They are a natural source of beneficial constituents like carbohydrates, amino acids, and unsaturated fatty acids. They also contain Vitamins B, C, D, E and K. Roasted pumpkin seeds are commonly eaten as snacks and if you want to roast them at home, follow the given steps.
To roast pumpkin seeds, you first need to scoop out all the seeds from the pumpkin into a bowl. You then need to separate the seeds from the flesh and strings. You might find this tough but you can put the combined seeds and flesh in a strainer and run water through it along with simultaneously rubbing the seeds so as to separate them. Rinse the seeds in cold water and ensure they are completely removed from flesh and strings. After the seeds are completely clean, you need to take out a baking sheet and lightly coat the sheet with oil. Also stir the seeds on the sheet so as to coat them too. Sprinkle some salt on the seeds. People with heart disease or who are trying to avoid excess salt in their diet should avoid adding salt. Remember, unsalted pumpkin seeds are also very tasty! The next step demands you to preheat the oven for about 2 to 3 minutes and then bake the seeds at 325 degrees F for 25 minutes or till the seeds get roasted. After they are roasted, cool them to room temperature and then store them in an air-tight container. Your roasted pumpkin seeds are ready. You can add roasted pumpkin seeds to soups and salads for a nutty flavor. They are also commonly eaten as snacks. Thus, roast pumpkins at home and enjoy their taste along with their health benefits.
