How to Regain Trust

January 10, 2009

The binding thread of any relationship is trust. While it takes loads of time and sincere effort to gain anyone’s trust, it just takes one rift, one word, and one instance to break that trust. In short, it takes a lifetime to build trusts and just a second to break it. If you have somehow broken that bond of trust, then it is your responsibility to regain it. Given below are tips which can help you regain back lost and broken trust.

Before seeking ways to regain trust, you must understand the essence of trust. It is the foundation of any relationship, be it marriage, love, friendship or any other relationship. Trust is not something you can buy with money; it is something that is earned over the period of time. Always try to retain that trust and never let it break.

However, if you have somehow lost trust of your near and dear one, don’t lose hope. You can still regain it but it requires sincere effort and dedication. First of all, be patient as the other person might be hurt along with having lost trust in you. Give him time and then apologize sincerely if you have made a mistake. Try to regain back the same trust. It will definitely take time and you need to be patient. Instead of speaking and making promises, let your actions display your credibility. Never indulge in backbiting, cheating or lying as all these things are enemies of trust. Also, you need to analyze and accept your own drawbacks and fallings which led to breach of trust. Before moving ahead, understand yourself. Acknowledging your mistake is not an act of shame; it requires courage. After acknowledging your mistake, you must try to convince the other person that you are still worthy of being trusted, not through words but through actions. By making an honest attempt, you can always try to regain back the lost trust. However, the golden rule- never break trust as it is like mirror; even after joining, the thin or mild scars still remain.
