How to Promote Healthy Eating Habits in Children

These days you’ll find children talking about pizzas, burgers and finger fries. No one talks about green vegetables or fresh fruits. It’s the latest trend these days which is leading to nothing but obese children with various health disorders. As a parent, you need to develop healthy eating habits in your child from the very start so that he grows up healthy. If you allow your child to become choosy in his eating habits, then it becomes very difficult to rectify this habit in future. Read below to find out tips for promoting healthy eating habits in children.

The attractive advertisements and hype of junk food on TV has made promotion of healthy eating habits in children a very challenging one. Children get attracted to these advertisements and such food tastes also good. So why should children give up on their taste? You need to keep a check on your child’s eating out as giving in once to his demands can prove costly to your child’s own health. From the time the child starts eating, you should ensure he has a well balanced and a nutritious diet. Develop his taste for all vegetables and fruits so that he can gain the benefits of all nutrients. Encourage your child to eat all nutrients and all meals and applaud him for his efforts. Be a role model for your child. Seeing you eat nutritional food, he too might get attracted towards it. Introduce one new food item at a time. If your child refuses it, accept the refusal calmly without arguing or scolding your child. Instead try giving that food in some other form which he might like. Along with ensuring your child starts eating healthy food, also ensure he indulges in exercise and physical activity for perfect health.
