How to Prevent Split Ends
Split ends can make your hair look unhealthy and untidy and they occur when the protective cuticle of the hair gets stripped away from the ends of the hair fibers. These damaged hair fibers then split into multiple strands giving your hair an unkept and an untidy look. Split ends are more likely to develop in dry or brittle hair and can also be caused by vigorous brushing and artificial treatment of hair like coloring and perming. Once a person gets the problem of split ends, one can get rid off it only by cutting and trimming of hair that are affected by split ends. The best way to keep your hair in good condition is to prevent them from the problem of split ends.
One can prevent split ends by using shampoos and conditioners containing hair thickeners. This can help in avoiding tangles and moisturizing of hair which is necessary to prevent dryness which causes split ends. Moreover, if one has to comb tangles from wet hair, then one should do it with a large toothed comb and not with a brush. One should keep away from using artificial treatments like hair dryers, curling irons, perms and hair colors. Moreover, one should get regular trims done to ward off the problem of split ends.
Long hair is more susceptible to split ends. However, one often tends to neglect taking care of short hair which leads to formation of split ends there also. Thus, one should always ensure to keep them moisturized and trimmed so that they remain healthy. One should try to prevent the occurrence of split ends because if they occur once, it becomes difficult to stop their growth. Eating a nutritious and a well balanced diet, especially containing Vitamin C,E, protein and iron, can help in the overall health of the hair.
