How to Prevent Joint Stiffness
Stiff joints can disrupt your healthy life. They lead to mobility problems and cause a lot of pain and discomfort. Even daily activities like bending down or climbing stairs become extremely difficult.
There are various factors responsible for stiff joints like injuries, old age, sedentary lifestyle, and even lack of nutrients in the body. In addition, some bone related problems can also lead to stiffness in joints. Given below are some simple ways by which you can prevent joint stiffness.
As mentioned above, sedentary lifestyle is one of the major causes of joint pain and joint stiffness. You need to keep yourself physically active, right from your younger years, to have a healthy and a fit life.
Exercise helps in improving the flexibility of joints and thus helps in preventing joint stiffness. Simple exercises like walking, jogging, cycling, and climbing stairs are helpful.
Stretching exercises are also beneficial for your joints. However, if you are suffering from joint pain, then you must avoid over stretching yourself.
Just like exercise, diet too plays a crucial role in preventing the problem of joint stiffness.
To have naturally healthy bones and joints, you should have a diet which is rich in calcium and Vitamin D. If you are unable to provide your body with the required amounts of calcium through diet, then you can also take calcium supplements.
If you are suffering from aching and stiff joints, then application of a hot water bottle can help in providing natural relief. Similarly, a warm water bath also helps.
If the stiffness and pain in your joint does not naturally subside, then you must visit a doctor to find out the underlying medical reason for it. This is because many times joint stiffness can be a symptom of problems like arthritis.
