How to Prevent Cataract
If eyes are your gateway to a beautiful and colorful world, you should take proper care of them. Many people fear the problem of cataract which usually accompanies growing age. This is a problem which leads to the lens inside the eye becoming cloudy thereby blurring and blocking vision. Usually, cataracts occur due to the aging process of the body. However, there are other factors like trauma, diabetes, and even prolonged exposure to sunlight which can trigger cataracts. Given below are certain ways by which you can prevent, or at least delay the problem of cataract from occurring.
Since trauma can lead to cataract, you need to protect your eyes from trauma. Moreover, prolonged use of certain medications like steroids, tranquilizers and others can cause cataract over a long run of time. Also, if you are diabetic, then keep your blood sugar levels under control as they can lead to early cataract. Not to forget, prevent overexposure of eyes to ultraviolet radiations. They can accelerate the development of cataracts and also lead to hampering of skin along with eyes. According to research, the damage caused by eyes due to UV rays can be prevented through intake of green, leafy vegetables. Moreover, increase intake of Vitamin E as they protect your eyes from various ailments like cataract. Vitamin E can be found in plant products like vegetable oils, soybeans, broccoli, and leafy green vegetables. Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables as they contain antioxidants which help in maintaining healthy cells and tissues of the eye. Last but not the least, get regular eye checkups done so that any problem can be treated before it becomes incurable or serious. Taking proper care of your eyes and health is the best way to protect your eyes from cataracts.
