Certainly the teaching of English has acquired a new meaning in recent years. Information technology has paved the way for the students to move beyond the ambit of subject and the exams help to test the student’s comprehension, knowledge, expression and application. Therefore it is very important that a child knows about the appropriate answering techniques. Keep in mind that the question should be answered effectively, flawlessly and speedily within the time provided to you.
Tell your child to scan the passage given in exam in a nice way so that he or she can easily comprehend it. Some difficult or unfamiliar words in the passage can be unlocked by guesswork and by relating the words to the preceding and succeeding sentences. While reading the passage, keep the questions that you have been asked in mind. This way, locating the answers becomes easier. Make sure you write precisely and adhere to the word limit. Avoid repeating words used in the question as it will only waste your time.
When answering questions, follow the four ‘C’s- clarity, completeness, conciseness and correctness. This makes for an effective writing. When writing a notice, designing a post or drafting advertising, completeness is of special importance. to check whether or not you have provided a ‘complete’ answer, check it buy asking yourself the ‘W’ questions- who, what, when, where, why etc.
Students should keep in mind that long answers should be addressed in two or three paragraphs. Also, it is better to write the name of the writer or poet instead of simply addressing them as ‘the author/wrier/poet.’
