April 10, 2009
In today’s day and age everything is categorized and labeled. One style of hair that is amongst many teenagers going through their rebellion state is “Emo.” What “Emo” basically stands for is emotional.
Individuals who are usually defined as Emo listen to rock or alternative music; sometimes head banging music, they dress in different clothes and wear different things.
Now unfortunately most of today’s society looks down upon emos and other labels, however much of them and us have more heart, art skills, and technology skills then a “normal” person. So to show who they are, Emo usually get certain kinds of hair styles.
They engage in hair styles that are short, outrageous, spunky, and just all around different. Not all, but most tend to have a longer front and shorter back to their hair style. Others have that, and have short uneven sides, layers and even colors.
They always stand out in a crowd and usually are multi colored and multi layered. Most also appear to have a decent length bangs. You can also tell an Emo individual usually by their piercing. They like big holes in their ears and piercing or tattoos all over.
To get an Emo hair style, you must be ready to have a different and radical look, and get ready to be stared down in public.
• First thing is to go to a stylist and explain what look you want
• You can get long hair in the front with uneven bangs and a short edgy cut in back.
• Think about putting some color and/or streaks into your hair or bangs.
• Use a straightening iron and/or flat iron for your hair. You rarely and scarcely see an Emo with curls in their hair or with braids and twists.
• Use molding cream, wax, and anti frizz if you want to have spikes and/or tails in your hair. This work very well with keeping your hair in place. You may also try a nice strong gel.
• Not all, but most Emo individuals have darker hair color because everything is dark to them. From their attire to their hair to their feelings and emotions.
• Emo hair is nothing without the Emo attitude. Tell your stylist exactly what you want. Let it be funky, different and out there! That’s Emo!
