Many people are affected by the problem of diabetes which is a medical condition characterized by abnormal levels of blood sugar in the body. Loss of regulation of blood sugar in itself can lead to various life-time problems like kidney failure, heart and cardiovascular disorders, limb amputation and even blindness. Thus, it is imperative to keep blood sugar levels normal, not only in people suffering from diabetes, but also in all of us so that this life time problem is avoided. Given below are some tips by which you can effectively manage your blood sugar.
People who are overweight have higher chances of diabetes. Keeping your diet under check and following a regular exercise regime is a must to prevent not only diabetes, but other weight related ailments. You can consult a nutritionist to find out about the number of calories required by your body to have an optimal weight. It has been found that the risk of diabetes is high in those people who have a high abdominal to hip body fat ratio. Thus, a change in diet can help. Meal planning is one of the most important requirements for managing blood sugar. Try consuming more fiber rich food items and strictly avoid oily and fatty food. People with diabetes can control and manage their blood sugar levels by having a high fiber diet which contains of things like whole grain cereals, legumes and fresh fruits and vegetables. Also, you can include monounsaturated fats found in olive oil, and nuts. You should also reduce your alcohol intake as they contain high amount of calories and carbohydrates. It is needless to say that intake of sugar needs to be controlled and monitored. It has also been found that reducing stress and anxiety can help in controlling your blood sugar. Follow these simple steps to naturally manage your blood sugar levels.
