How to Make Scrubs at Home

March 21, 2009

An essential beauty tip which all of us must have heard is of exfoliating and scrubbing our skins. Before moving ahead, let’s understand what exactly is implied by scrubbing. With growing pollution and global warming, our skins are gradually getting exposed to various threats. The daily exposure of skin to impurities, dirt and pollution leads to accumulation of these impurities on the skin which in turn saps away the natural glow and radiance from it. What most of us are left with is a potentially dry and lack luster skin. Here comes the power of scrubbing.

Scrubbing is a process of exfoliating the skin to get rid of unwanted impurities. It helps in opening the clogged pores of the skin which usually get clogged due to dirt and unwanted oils. Thus, scrubbing forms an important component in the natural daily care treatment of skin. While many people tend to spend a bounty on buying scrubs for their skin, here are some simple steps through which you can keep your skin naturally soft, clean and radiant using natural homemade scrubs.

To begin with, let’s look at a homemade scrub made by using olive oil and sugar. We all have heard of the various benefits of olive oil for skin. Now, let’s implement that knowledge into practice. Take about 2 tablespoons of olive oil and ½ cup of sugar and mix them together. You can also add 1 tablespoon of vanilla or mint extract. Now you simply apply this paste during bath and experience the exfoliating effect of sugar combined seamlessly with skin benefits of olive oil.

You can also make a homemade scrub by using almonds. Take about 1 tsp of almonds and grind them in a food processor. Then mix that grinded mixture with 1 tsp of egg white and 1 tsp of the healthy honey. Your scrub is ready and all you need to do is to apply it on your face to experience the scrubbing and exfoliating power. You can also mash avocado and apply it on your face for the same effect.

Thus follow the above given tips to naturally soften your skin and make it healthy through the power of homemade scrubs.
