How to make cut flowers last longer

August 19, 2008

Got a lovely bunch of red roses from you lover? Dying to keep them forever in that fresh state? Surely they won’t be able to stay in their fresh dew everlasting state due to the nature’s limitation but you can definitely make them to live little longer than their usual way. So, just follow the following steps and you can take a fresh sight of them while you take a walk around your home.

First of all lop off about ½ inches off the end of each stem of your flower, at 45 degree angle. Make sure, you do this in a correct manner otherwise all your efforts will go useless.

Now remove all the attached leaves from the part of stem, which will get submerged under water. While cutting the leaves try avoiding any cuts on the stem.

Now put 1 tbsp of bleach per liter of water that you add to your flower vase and mix it well so that it gets dissolved in water perfectly.

If you want to prevent the water filled in glass vase to look murky and gloomy, then you can add few drops of food color that you use in your kitchen while making eatables for your family members to it.

Now add 1 tsp of sugar to your flower glass vase which is filled with water to rejuvenate the flowers.

At last, make sure you keep your flower vase out of the reach of direct sunlight .also, keep away from heat and draughts. Do you know that even a running fan can cause the flowers to wilt? So make sure you place the flower vase in the best suitable place.

After reading the above easy steps for keeping the flowers last longer you never have to worry about those large numbers of bouquets that you get on your special occasions from your friends and relatives.
