How To Make Cough Syrups At Home

Change in weather, infections, or intake of excessive cold stuff can irritate the throat and lead to the problem of cough, often persistent one. Coughs disrupt the daily routine of the person and thus many people suffering from coughs adopt the common path of taking cough syrups.

However, most of the syrups available from markets makes one feel sleepy and drowsy; something not accepted by working people. Also, excess intake of cough syrups is not advised for small children. Given below are some tips by which you can make a healthy and a safe cough syrup at home.

Did you know that honey has natural healing powers and has proved extremely beneficial for the treatment of cough? Thus, the next time you suffer from cough, you should use honey to make a natural cough syrup. You can use honey with lemon for an effective homemade cough syrup.

All you need is half cup of honey which needs to be mixed with about 3 tablespoons of lemon juice. This mixture needs to be stirred well and little warm water can be added slowly while stirring. Your cough syrup is ready and you should store it well for future use.

Here is another effective recipe for making of cough syrups at home. For this, you need to add 1 peeled and chopped onion, 1 to 2 cloves of garlic, and little honey and mix and heat the mixture on low heat. After that strain the mixture, cool it and it is ready. You can also add brandy to it as you must have seen many people taking brandy when they suffer from cough and cold.

These simple tips for making cough syrups at home can come very handy as such syrups are natural, healthy, safe and effective.
