You don’t have to make drastic changes in your daily routine to take time out for exercise. Making a few minor changes in will do the trick. Make exercise a part of your life. Ideally a 30 to 60 minutes workout for 4 to 6 days a week is good enough for an average person.Exercise keeps your heart in a good shape.Reduces the risk of diabetes and prevents a stroke.
It improves joint stability and increases the range of body movement by improving the flexibility of muscles.It prevents osteoporosis and fractures, risks of which increases as age advances.It keeps you to be in a good mood, reduces anxiety and enhances your self esteem.It helps you sleep better, and gives you a feeling of well being.
What you can do
Use the staircase in the building of your office or apartment, instead of elevator. Get your blood flowing and muscles moving.Walk part of distance to your office if it is far off; otherwise just walk down to it, instead of using car or cab.If you are working on a desk the whole day, then take a break every 30 minutes and do a bit of walking. It will prevent you from getting leg cramps and stiff knees.
Move around the house at a faster pace when doing household work. Take up gardening, clean the drive.To make exercise interesting, do it in the company of a friend, relative or spouse. Bring variation to your activity, like if you are going for a walk for some time, switch to playing your favourite game, or go swimming, aerobics etc.
Listen to music or watch TV, when you are working out on a stationery cycle or a treadmill.You have to be regular and patient. The results will show but not immediately.
What is a balanced diet? Balanced diet should have carbohyderates, minerals, proteins, calcium, fats, fibres and vitamins in right proportions. But you do not have to be overly concerned about calorie count. Just a few changes here and there will help you to attain a proper diet pattern. Moderation is the key to a balanced diet. It is only an excess that is unhealthy. If your stomach is at ease, you can master your passions and increase your productivity.

Drink a pint of water, first thing in the morning .Water helps to cleanse the system and keeps you hyderated.if you don’t like the taste of plain water, add a few drops of lemon to it. Try this for a week and you will begin to feel less tired.
Carry fresh fruits with you if you leave for work early in the morning and don’t return till evening. Fruits are a great source of vitamins and minerals and sugar required in our body.
For lunch avoid junk foods, which have empty calories and will only increase your weight, opt for fresh fruits and salads with yogurt dressing.During afternoons chew some nuts like walnuts, almonds, cashew nuts etc.they will increase your afternoon energy level and productivity.
Add colour to your palate. It will provide you with all the nutrients that your body requires. You don’t have to compromise on taste. By just being a little conscious and aware about what to eat, how to eat and when to eat is the bottom line of a balanced diet.Remember, we eat to live and not live to eat.
Rest refers to a short pause between activities; it also means giving rest to body and mind. A sound sleep is an essential part of it.We need to sleep to recharge the body. A sound sleep of6to 8 hours is required by the body. But it varies from person to person. Different people have different sleeping patterns and amount. Quality of sleep also varies among people.
Sleep rejuvenates the body and mind. Muscle and soft tissues are repaired and revitalized during this time. Mind gets to process and analyse the memories and tasks performed during the day.
Lack of proper sleep can affect your health and work performance. It disturbs mental clarity and you will not be able to take decisions.Continuous lack of sleep can make you irritable. It can cause weight gain, anxiety and even depression.
What you can do
To get a sound sleep, avoid drinking tea or coffee in the evening. It will disturb your ability to fall asleep. Avoid heavy meals at night or eat your dinner at least 3 hours before you go to sleep. You will not be able to sleep with a heavy stomach. Deep breathing has a soothing effect on the mind. Lie straight on your back and take 10 deep breaths and relax.
Praying and meditation before going to bed also induces sleep.
When going to sleep turn off the lights, TV and either switch off your mobile phone or put it on the silent mode. By following the above mentioned techniques and applying them in your daily routine, you can achieve a healthy life. You will feel more energetic, active and more at peace.
