April 9, 2009

peerpressureAs a parent of a small child or an adolescent, you have a huge responsibility of ensuring his healthy growth and development.

For this, you not only have to instill positive lifestyle habits and good morals in the child, but also have to help him to deal with peer pressure.

Everyone faces peer pressure sometimes in their life and it is necessary to effectively deal with it. This article will provide you with tips on how you can help your child deal with peer pressure.

Every child has friends and peers. There might be times when your child is encouraged or even forced to undertake some amoral or wrong thing like taking drugs, alcohol or indulging in any other amoral activity.

Due to peer pressure, your child or adolescent might find it difficult to say ‘no’ to his peers.

After all, in today’s generation, every child wants to look cool and show himself as trendy. Thus, as a parent, you have an extremely crucial role as you have to prevent your child from treading the wrong path under the influence of peer pressure.

First of all, you should know the kinds of friends your child mixes with. After all, company also affects the personality and habits of a person. Help and advise your child to make friends with children who share positive morals and who do not undertake the wrong path of life just for fun and experimentation. Also, you need to continuously guide your child as an advisor and a friend.

Teach him to say no to wrong things and become his friend. This will help him to discuss his problems freely with you.

As a parent, you need to make your child strong, confident and with strong self-belief so that he can stand by his values and not get influenced by peer pressure.
