How to Hand-Wash Clothes
These days, most of us wash clothes in a washing machine. It saves time and is also easy to handle. However, there are times when you have to wash your clothes by hand.
After all, certain sensitive fabrics can get spoilt if they are put in a washing machine. In addition, there are times when circumstances force you to wash clothes by hand. This can happen when your washing machine breaks down. This article will thus provide some helpful tips on hand-washing clothes.
Before you wash clothes, you must read their tags. For instance, if the tag states that the fabric should be gently washed, then you should prefer hand-washing it rather than washing it in a machine.
In addition, you must isolate clothes that shed some color so that the other clothes are not affected. Such color shedding clothes should be washed separately. Also, it is advisable to wash white clothes separately.
When you hand-wash clothes, you must ensure you have plenty of running water. Washing clothes in lukewarm or hot water will help as they accelerate the process of getting rid of dirt and stains. After you fill up a bucket with warm water, you should put some detergent in it and then put the clothes in it.
While hand-washing clothes, pay attention to certain sections of the cloth like collars and underarms that often get dirty and smelly. They should be well washed for the cloth to be clean and odor-free. This requires proper kneading of such sections of the clothes.
There are certain clothes that have stubborn stains on them like those of coffee stains or grease. You must soak such clothes in detergent water for some time before washing them.
Thus, follow the above given tips on hand-washing clothes so that you take proper care of the cleanliness of your clothes.
