How to Get Rid of Microwave Odor

We cook so many things in our microwave that over a period of time, it develops a strong odor due to mixing of the smell of various items. It thus becomes important to cleanse your microwave on a regular basis along with following some given tips to get rid of its odor.

Spills, spatters, and cooking of various food items in the microwave makes the latter prone to some strong but unfriendly odors. Here are some ways by which you can get rid of microwave odor. To remove strong smells from your microwave, you need to thoroughly clean your microwave.

However, before cleaning, make sure you unplug the microwave. If the odor is not that strong, you can clean it simply using a wet sponge. However, use a clean cloth for cleansing the inside of the microwave so that you don’t worsen the condition.

Liquid dish soap and water are the common things found in every household and these things can be effectively sued to free your microwave from unpleasant odor. Apply gentle liquid dish soap to the interiors of the microwave and then use a clean cloth sponged with warm water to make your microwave spic and span without any odor.

Vinegar and lemon are other common household items which can be used to free your microwave of pungent smell. Vinegar is an effective way of disinfecting and cleansing the microwave along with removing the odor.

The acidic quality of lemon makes it a natural deodorizer and its strong yet pleasant smell helps in warding off unwanted microwave odor.  You can also put ½ tablespoon of baking soda in a small bowl and place it in the microwave for about 2 to 3 days to get your microwave rid of pungent and strong odor.
