How to Get Rid of Highlights

August 12, 2009

highlighthairWe all like to move with fashion and love to create our own unique style and trend. We all experiment a lot with our hair to portray a unique and a trendy style. However, it’s not necessary that all styles suit all.

Hair highlighting is in fashion but it does not look good on all. Also, once the fashion goes away, we all seek for ways by which we can get rid of the red, brown or golden highlight from our hair. This article will provide some tips that will help you easily get rid of highlights.

There are people who immediately want to get rid of the highlight due to various factors- they don’t like their look after highlighting their hair or the color of the highlight doesn’t seem to suit them. Whatever be the reason, you must remember that to avoid hair damage, you must keep your highlights for at least 3 weeks.

Removing highlights involves use of chemicals. If your hair is already dry, weak and brittle, it is advised that you go in for deep conditioning treatment before getting a chemical treatment done to remove highlights.

The treatment of highlight removal depends upon whether you had a permanent highlighting done or a temporary one. For removing permanent highlights, you first have to bleach your hair and then apply hair dye after 2 or 3 days. Bleaching involves use of chemicals and it is usually advised that you get it done from a professional to avoid unwanted consequences.

Temporary highlights fade away with time. You can get rid of such highlights by washing your hair frequently. However, be careful of not over washing your hair that they become dry and brittle.

You can thus follow the above given tips to get rid of highlights.
