How to get rid of Dust Mites
Do you often face the problem of constant sneezing or some allergic reaction when at home? Though considered as the safest and secure place on earth, a home can lead to some allergic reactions in a person if it is full with dust mites. Dust mite is a microscopic, spider-like creature which is found in homes particularly in carpets, mattresses and upholstered furniture. The waste products produced by these mites are what causes various kinds of allergic reactions in a body and these waste products continue to cause allergic symptoms even after the mite that had produced them has died. To get rid of these mites, one should follow the given tips to attain a clean, hygienic and a healthy house.
The most common hideout for mites is your bed and thus one needs to wash bedding weekly to keep these mites at bay. One can wash bedding with hot water or in cold water mixed with an allergen treatment. Many people believe that simple washing of bedding can help in the removal of dust mites. While washing is required for hygiene, it does not completely help in getting rid of dust mites as the latter easily pass through the loosely weaved material of the bed sheets and pillow covers. One thus needs proper dust mite encasings which are made of special materials which inhibit the passing through of these mites.
Houses with wall to wall carpeting are at a greater risk from the attack of dust mites as carpet is a prime living space for these allergens. Having minimum carpets in your home is the best way to prevent this problem. In addition, using vacuums with high efficiency filters can help in removal of dust mites from carpets. One can also use a carpet steamer to steam clean the carpets. By keeping one’s house well ventilated and full of sunlight, one can minimize the population of dust mites as the latter thrives on warm and stable conditions. By following some basic cleaning techniques, one can get rid of the troublesome allergies which are caused by dust mites.
