How to Enhance Natural Curls

July 9, 2008

Lucky are those people who have natural curly hair as beautifully kept curls are a delight for any onlooker. By taking proper care and nourishment of one’s hair, one’s curls can be enhanced to add a further beauty element to them.

Curly hair, by nature, is drier than other kinds of hair and thus it needs good quality enhancing products which can provide the essential moisture to the hair. A careful selection of products should be made as those containing drying alcohols and harsh surfactants should be specially avoided as these products destroy any natural oil which is left in one’s hair. Before using shampoos which are designed to enhance one’s curls, one should go in for pre-shampoo treatment which involves massaging one’s head with olive oil for about 20 minutes before shampooing them.

There are various curl enhancement techniques available in the parlor which varies according to the length, texture and structure of one’s hair. The various kinds of enhancements include adding curl root to point, adding curl point to root, adding waves and increasing the volume of one’s hair amongst others. In addition, there are also curls enhancing mousse or gels available in the market. However, one should be careful enough to apply gel away from one’s scalp so as to avoid dandruff.

Hair cuts and hair styling plays an important role in bringing about an enhanced look of our natural curls. It is necessary to get one’s hair trimmed regularly so as to get rid of split ends which generally form at the end points of curls. Moreover, getting one’s hair cut in layers can help in enhancing the look of natural curls. A thing of beauty can be enhanced into an everlasting thing of beauty by taking proper care of them. Thus, properly nourish and protect your hair so that your natural curls can be enhanced with a beautiful look.
