How To End Homework Battles With Your Kid

December 11, 2008

Do you know that with little amount of understanding and patience, a home work session can be more successful for you and as well as for your child. All you harried parents out there, who finds it difficult to end homework battles with their kids, just keep in mind that find out what really works with your kid and then make efforts to let your kid stick to that particular way of doing his or her homework. Here are some easy ways listed below that can certainly help ending homework battles between parents and kids-just read them out!

Make sure you as a parent, only observes with way your child does his or her homework. Don’t interfere! Don’t let your work suffer while you kid toys with his project. Insist that the homework is his or her responsibility and not yours. Offer help when it is really needed. If your child is having difficulties while completing assignment, help him or her understand the work by making similar problems and showing step by step how to do it. Then watch him or her try to do one on own. This way, you can even pay attention to your own work.

Before our child gets down to the work, section the assignment in smaller chunks. Grouping the assignment will prove to be helpful for kids who finds it difficult to stick to the task or have shorter span of memory. It also works for kids who are overly concerned about making ‘everything going in right manner’. Tell your child to do one chunk at a time. If your child starts to enjoy his or her work, it becomes easier for you to carry on your job and household responsibilities. Believe me; this point will definitely end up your homework battle with your kids.
