How to Encourage a Child

August 4, 2009

encourcaghildEncouragement is essential in every stage of a child’s growth. As a parent, you can boost up your child’s growth and make him intellectually, morally and emotionally stronger by encouraging him at every stage of his life.

Encourage your child to learn good things, to eat a healthy diet, to lead a healthy lifestyle, and to study hard and you’ll find your child blossoming into a successful human being.

Right from the time a child is born, you can start encouraging him. To help your child start walking, you can encourage him to walk towards you by giving him temptation of some toy.

Similarly, you should encourage your child to balance himself and to play puzzles so that he has fine development of motor skills and intellect. Also, you should encourage him to read, write and recite rhymes and poems so that there is proper development of language and communication skills.

A child will perform better and give his best when encouraged. Having looked at the importance of encouragement, let’s now look at ways by which you can encourage your child.

You can reward a child with some toy, chocolates or take him out for a treat when he performs well. This will encourage him to give his best every time. Encouraging a child is not a tough task. Also, it is not necessary that you have to encourage your child only through monetary means.

A small word of appreciation or a smile and hug are quite effective in encouraging a child. They feel special and this love and attention you pay to your child after he does something good or learns something new always encourages him to move on the right path of life.

Children get happy and encouraged by small things and it is for this reason that teachers often reward good children with smileys and stars to encourage them to keep up their good work.
