How to do a Pedicure at Home

October 30, 2008

Feet are often the most overworked and under-cared portions of our body. Since they receive the maximum stress and strain of life, we should effectively take care of them to keep them fit and healthy. Thus, pedicures have gained huge popularity as they add beauty to the feet along with relaxing and soothing them. Though pedicure spas are great way of rejuvenating your feet, they are also time-consuming in this fast world. Hence, if you do not find time to go to the parlor, you need not neglect your feet as now you can effectively do a pedicure at home. Read below and find out how a pedicure can be effectively done at home.

To do a pedicure at home, you need nail polish remover, cotton balls, toenail clippers, nail filer, cuticle oil, water basin, foot scrub, foot lotion, base coat, clear nail polish, and colored nail polish. To begin a pedicure, you first need to start by removing any nail polish using cotton balls and nail polish remover. Next, you need to trim your nails with a clipper and smooth out the edges with the help of a filer. Also cut and file your nails in a proper way so as to provide them with a proper shape. Now, clean your toenails with nail brush and soak them in water basin for 10-15 minutes. You can also add Epsom salt in the water for relaxation of feet. Along with relaxation, this would also help in softening the cuticles. Now, you need to apply foot scrub and wash it out with the foot bath water. Dry the feet and move the foot bath to the side.

Gently apply some oil or cream to the nail and massage the cuticles. Then, use foot file to exfoliate calluses and other rough spots from the bottom of your foot. You can now apply a base coat on your nails and then pick out your favorite color and apply two coats of it. Once the color has dried, apply a top coat or clear nail polish to prevent chipping and to help the polish last longer. Remember to apply a foot lotion to keep your feet moisturized and you can also wear a pair of socks to keep the moisture intact.

Follow these simple steps to get an effective and relaxing pedicure at home.
