How to Deal with Lower Back Pain
If you constantly have pain in the region above your legs and below your ribs, then chances are that you are suffering from the problem of lower back pain. There can be many causes for back pain but it is believed that injury and overstraining one’s body are two main initiators of this problem. In some people, lower back pain can be a result of arthritis, osteoporosis, spinal problems and also because of broken vertebrae. Most of the lower back pains can be treated with some basic self-care. However, it can become chronic if one is continuously under stress or depression.
Having the problem of lower back pain does not imply your being bedridden for most of the time. With the help of some basic self-care and treatments like exercise treatments, massage therapy, yoga, acupuncture and others, one can easily get rid of the problem of lower back pain. Simple home remedies can help to relieve back pain caused by stress, strain or a minor injury. One should first apply ice for the first 2 or 3 days after one has hurt one’s back. After a couple of days, you should use take heat treatment by using a heating pad or by taking a hot shower bath to lower the intensity of one’s pain. One can also take anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce the pain. In addition, one should try to get out of bed as soon as possible as staying in bed for more than 2 days can weaken your muscles. People who have a higher frequency of back pains should try to strengthen their back and stomach muscles through exercise, yoga and most importantly, by following the correct postures of sitting and standing.
People who have acute and chronic lower back pain should consult their doctors and take help from physiotherapy and medications. One should not wait for the problem to worsen as back forms the pivotal part of one’s body whose ill-health can lead to our life coming to a standstill.
