October 8, 2009

babycollicIs your baby cranky and cries a lot? If yes, then you probably have a colic baby. Colic is a condition in which a baby cries without any specific reason. Such babies tend to cry even when they are not hungry, sleepy, or in pain.

Handling colic babies can be tough and hectic for parents as such babies are sensitive and require their parent’s full time attention. This article will talk about various ways that can help you to effectively deal with baby colic.

If your baby is colic and cries a lot, then you have to often hold and soothe your baby. Such babies are sensitive and require loads of attention.

Many parents rock their baby to put them to sleep. However, you should not make this a regular routine as your child might become dependent on you and would refuse to sleep without your holding and rocking him.

According to medical research, babies who are colic often suffer from some digestion related problem which in turn leads to discomfort and irritation. Thus, you should avoid over feeding your baby and also avoid giving them gas producing food items as that carries the danger of irritating the child’s digestive system.

You should also try to find out if your child’s crying episodes get triggered after eating some particular food item. If yes, then you must avoid feeding your child with such items.

As mentioned above, gas or acidity is one major cause that leads to colic in babies. You should thus try to help your child relieve gas from his stomach.

Along with the above given tips, you should also create a calm and peaceful environment in your house as that will help in naturally relaxing and soothing your cranky baby.

Usually, babies outgrow their cranky and crying behavior in a few months. The above given tips can help you to effectively deal with baby colic.
