How to deal with a doubtful situation

October 15, 2008

Whenever you start anything new, certainly you become self-conscious as you are doing it. Others may not notice anything out of the ordinary, but you might feel particularly vulnerable and exposed. As you move ahead with life’s plan journey, there are times when you probably feel that you have not started out at all, but remember that such a doubt can really hamper your venture in a big way. So to help you contour self-doubts, here are some practical ways to deal with them, just read them out!

Have someone whose feedback you can always trust upon, someone who is open and honest. You can always talk to such a person whenever in a doubtful situation and find out that whether what all you are thinking is real and how much it contains only your imagination.

Always jot down the pros and cons of what you are doing. This way, if one column expands your doubts, the other column will put the light on the gains of the project. You can always make use of this exercise to compare the opportunities with doubts.

When you face a doubtful situation, and then try to push yourself even harder than before. Just sit down and imagine the worst that can happen with you and then carry on with the things regardless, but with even more vigor and force.

Remember that at times doubts can be good too. Acknowledge doubt for what it is by abandoning your comfort zone. Use doubt as a measure of success, not as a warning of impending disaster.

If you are in a competitive situation, then remember that your rival must also be having some doubts as you are having. So dig in and push on. Let the other person falter and fall back.
