First and foremost thing to keep yourself in an active state is by keeping a good check over your sugary foodstuff. Try to stay away from sweet items as much as possible. Foodstuffs like jaggery, sugar get absorb very quickly by the body, causing sudden urge in your energy levels making you alert only for the time being.

When your body releases insulin to deal with this sudden rise in sugar levels, it makes you feel more tired and exhausted. It again dips your alertness levels down. Sugar may boost your physical activity but searchers have proved that it is not the best bet to combat a sleepy brain. So make sure you avoid all the sugary foodstuffs and aerated health drinks, which are high on sugar content.

Undoubtedly a heavy meal makes you feel sleepy. Heavy meals demands more blood flow to stomach in order to aid the digestion process in your body. As a result, less amount of blood enters your brain, which makes your whole body lethargic. So try to break your total meal in 4-5 small meals. Include more proteins in your diet instead of carbohydrates. The key is to contribute the same quantity in smaller portions through the day. Try to go easy with your food.
