How to Clean Curtains
Every house has curtains and you’ll find various styles, designs and colors of curtains available in markets today. After all, curtains play an important rolein adding to the show of your house.
However, we often tend to neglect the cleanliness of our curtains. Curtains need proper cleaning at regular intervals as many dust particles get accumulated on them. This article will provide some helpful tips on ways you can clean your curtains.
Curtains cannot be washed everyday but they should be cleansed once in a while. When you see your curtains looking dirty or when you brush them and there is a lot of dust coming out, then it’s time to clean your curtains.
To clean and wash curtains, you first need to take them out from the curtain rod and remove the curtain rings. Also, check the label of the fabric of the curtain for any particular cleansing instruction.
This is because there are many sensitive fabrics which require special care and cleansing treatments. Thus, you should ideally wash curtains according to their labeled instructions so that your curtain’s fabric is not damaged. Dry cleaning of curtains is another option for lined and expensive curtains.
While you can wash curtains in a washing machine, large and delicate curtains should preferably be washed in a large bath tub. You can add fabric softener while washing.
If you are hand washing curtains, then you should ensure that you rub the dirty portions of the curtain well and that there is enough running water to cleanse the curtains.
For drying curtains after washing them, you can put them in a dryer and then lay them out evenly in the open air. However, you must ensure that your curtains do not stay for a long time in sun as excessive sun exposure can weaken or discolor the fabric.
Thus, follow the above given tips to keep your curtains clean and dust-free.
