How to choose Walking Shoes

Most of us make all fitness regimes and programs and make all necessary arrangements to move towards a healthy and a fit life. However, one basic thing which we often tend to forget is the choosing of right kind of walking shoes which is not a matter of style but instead is very important to ensure the health and well being of a person. Most of us associate footwear with style and fashion but the truth remains that shoes play a pivotal role in ensuring the comfort and safety of our feet and choosing the right shoe can help in preventing long term health problems which can range from simple foot problems to major spinal injuries. One should thus spend effort and time in choosing the right kind of walking shoes according to the basic criterion of stability, comfort and flexibility.

Most importantly, walking shoes need to be stable and comfortable. To ensure the stability of shoes, one should ensure that the back of the shoe surrounding the heel is stiff so that it protects the feet while walking which in turn can prevent any unwanted injury. Similarly, it is important that the shoes are comfortable and of optimum size and fit. They should have a cushion at the heel as that is the portion where the most forceful impact occurs while walking. Having a well ventilated shoe is any day better than those which completely bind the feet without any space for circulation of air. This is necessary to provide comfort along with helping in the protection of feet from bacterial and fungi attacks. In addition, one should ensure that the shoes which one buys are flexible enough to bend according to the moves of one’s feet during the whole process of walking.

Choosing the right kind of shoes plays an important part in ensuring the overall health of one’s feet along with aiding in the health of one’s spine. One cannot proceed with a health regime of walking without indulging in the buying of correct, comfortable and stable shoes. However, one should always remember to choose health over style and a fit shoe over a funky and a stylish one.
