How to Boil Eggs
Eggs are popular as a good source of proteins and are commonly used in breakfasts. Boiled eggs with bread pieces are the perfect way to begin your day. However, boiling eggs is not that easy for people.
This is because if you don’t boil eggs properly, you will end up with half boiled eggs or overcooked or rubbery eggs. This article will provide some helpful tips on boiling eggs.
To begin with, buy proper eggs. Ensure they are not cracked and are neither too old nor too fresh. This is because old eggs are not too good for consumption and extremely fresh eggs are difficult to peel when boiled as they don’t have a mature outer membrane. You might ask as to how you can check the date of an egg?
Well, you can easily test an egg at home to find out if it is too fresh, too old or the one that is suitable for boiling. All you need to do is to place your egg in a bowl of water.
If your egg is too fresh, it will sit inside the water. Keep such eggs in your fridge for 2 to 3 days and then use them for boiling. If your egg is floating on top, then you must throw it as it is too old and unfit for consumption. The egg which is suitable for boiling is the one which stands on either end of the bowl.
After proper selection of your egg, you need to boil it. Here are the simple steps that can help you get a properly boiled egg. Place the egg in a pan and pour water in the pan. Water level should be just above the egg placed in it. After that, place the pan on a stove on medium heat.
Once the eggs or the water starts boiling, switch off the flame and cover the lid of the pan. Keep the eggs for about 10-15 minutes. After that, remove the eggs from the pan and put them in a bowl of cold water and then peel them. You boiled eggs are ready for your breakfast.
