plaqueavoidAlong with a healthy body and a sound mind, you need proper oral care to have prefect dental health for overall wellbeing and happiness. Having proper gums and healthy teeth help in bringing a beautiful smile that reflects proper oral health.

However, there are various kinds of gum and teeth related problems which we should prevent to stay healthy. One such problem is that of plaque.

Plaque or tartar refers to unwanted bacteria that get accumulated on teeth and raise the possibility of gum diseases and tooth infections. This article will throw light on some simple oral care tips that can help you prevent and avoid the problem of plaque.

Brushing your teeth regularly is the key to healthy teeth. Choose a proper toothbrush and brush your teeth twice a day to avoid plaque formation. You should ensure that you follow the right technique of brushing so that all your teeth get cleaned. With growing awareness of the importance of proper oral care, there are many plaque prevention toothpastes that are available in markets.

Using a mouth wash to rinse your mouth is a good and effective way of preventing plaque. Along with your teeth, you also need to keep your gums and tongue clean and healthy.

You can use floss to keep your gums healthy and you should also use a tongue scraper to get rid of plaque and bacteria from your tongue. Floss should ideally be used after having meals.

Along with the above given steps, you also need to develop healthy eating habits. Avoid having too much of sweets as they encourage bacterial attack which in turn leads to plaque, gum diseases and tooth decay. Instead, you should have plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Also, keep yourself well hydrated and have plenty of water for optimum oral health.
