How to Apply a Face Mask

December 15, 2008

Everyone wants to have a skin that is soft, healthy and naturally glowing. Using face masks is one of the most common and effective way of attaining radiant skin. Moreover, these face masks help in removing excess oil from the skin along with opening up of pores to help moisturize and nourish the skin. Thus, facial masks help a great deal in getting rid of clogged pores, whiteheads along with cleansing, nourishing and rejuvenating the skin. There are various kinds of facial masks available for all skin types; they can be bought from markets as well as be made at home. However, you need to know the proper way of applying and using it for maximum benefit.

If you are buying a face mask from market, you should check for ingredients so as to be sure you are not allergic to it. Moreover, you should avoid using masks if you are having some skin infection, burns, cuts or simply a hypersensitive skin. For others, given are some simple application steps of face masks. Before applying a face mask on your face and neck, you should thoroughly wash and cleanse your face of all makeup and dirt. Tie your hair before applying the mask and the mask should be applied thinly over the entire face using spatula or fingers. Start application from forehead and work your way down the skin, on the cheeks, nose and chin, finally to the neck. Leave it for 15 to 20 minutes depending upon the face mask and your skin type. If you have dry skin, then don’t leave the mask on for more than 25 minutes. After removal, you can wash your face and neck with lukewarm water. Never rub your skin and you can apply moisturizer or hydrating cream after using a face mask. You’ll then notice a naturally radiant, soft and glowing skin.
