How prolonged use of cells affects you

November 20, 2008

Certainly mobile phones have become necessity of life. You really can’t imagine your life without having you mobiles phones in your pocket. Isn’t it right? But you all will be surprised to read that recently doctors were baffled by an unexplained rash, an allergy on people’s ears and cheeks affecting number of people all around the world. Later they found that, this allergy is caused due to the prolonged use of their cell phones. So people make sure you check out your timings which you spent on your mobile phones in a day.

Mobile phone causes a red or itchy rash on your skin which is known as mobile phone dermatitis. This allergic reaction affects people very badly. This is caused due to the nickel surface of mobile phones when one spends long hours using his or her cell phone. So if you see a rash on your cheek or ears without any explained reason for same, then believe me, it might be a symptom of mobile phone dermatitis.

Though the safety concerns over mobile phones has grown as more and more number of people relies on it for their everyday communication, but still clean bill of health has yet not granted to the mobile technology when it comes to serious conditions like brain cancer etc.

In mobile phone dermatitis, a rash occurs on the cheek or ear depending on where the metal part of the phone comes into the direct contact with the skin. It can even occur on your fingers if you spend lot of time in texting to your friends on metal menu buttons. Nickel is found in number of items like mobile phones, jewellery, and in belt buckles. This is one of the most common causes of allergic contact dermatitis.
