If you are a housewife and are working towards creating a better house in terms of cleanliness, hygene and style, here are a few really useful tips to help you out in yout task. These pointers will definitely come in handy in your day to day chores.

Taking care of plants: It’s really hard to get rid of pesky weeds that manage to get through almost every kind of protective cover you wrap around your plant.

Critters like squirrels and ants also play havoc on your plants and munch away to glory if they are not chased away in time. Here’s how you can take care of both of them.

Take a newspaper, wet it and put it around the plant. Repeat the same with other newspapers and create overlapping layers of the same. Now cover the newspapers with mulch and you can stop worrying about weeds which will not be able to get through the wet newspapers.

Sprinkle a small amount of cayenne pepper on your plants which will keep them safe from squirrels and other critters. You don’t need to worry about the effect of cayenne pepper on your plants though. Nothing will happen to them.

Cleaning the House: Let’s say you broke a glass vase while cleaning the house. Picking up those hard to see pieces of glass can be quite tiresome and dangerous as well. What you can possibly do is pour some water onto a piece of cotton and use it to pick up small shards. Alternatively, you can use a Q-tip for the same.

Getting something out from beneath the refrigerator can be a time consuming task. Make it easier by attaching an empty gift warp roll or an empty paper towel roll to your vaccum. These can be flattened and bent to get in and around narrow openings.

Next time, try this handy tip when you need to pour something sticky into a measuring cup. Fill the measuring cup with hot water and pour it out immediately.

Don’t dry the cup though. Now when you add the sticky substance that needs to be measured and poured out, you will be surprised to see how easily it comes out without sticking to the sides.

Another really useful tip is with regards to envelopes. Envelopes that are sealed can be hard to reopen and can tear in the process. The best way to open the seal with minimal damage is to place the envelope in the freezer for about 2 hours after which you can remove the seal.

Personal Care: Here are a few useful tips on how you can look silky and radiant while ridding yourself off static and mosquitoes. Mosquitoes and other insects will stay far away from you if you place a dryer sheet in your pocket wherever you go.

In addition to this, you can pin a small safety pin to your slip or slack. This will absorb all the static and you will be saved the embarassment of having to deal with clingy dresses, skirts and slacks.

Opt for conditioners rather than shaving gels or hair removal creams. Apply some conditioner onto your legs and hands and wait for some time before shaving. You will be amazed at the sight of really smooth and silky looking legs.

Kitchen Tips: Taking care of foods in the kitchen can be a cumbersome task and here’s how you can make the job easier.

Say goodbye to fruit flies forever! All you need to do is fill a glass with 2 drops of dish washing liquid and apple cider vinegar. Leave some room at the top of the glass. Place the glass near fruits or other dishes and voila! You will notice all the flies being attracted to the glass instead of the dishes.

Ants can get really pesky in the summer seasons. The best way to get rid of them without worrying about your children being harmed would be to apply some cornmeal wherever you see them. The ants eat the cornmeal, head off home and die due to indigestion problems.

Bananas need to be separated from the stem as soon as you get them home. This will slow down the ripening process. You can also warm or reheat refrigerated foods like biscuits, muffins, and breads in the microwave oven. Just remember to place a cup of water in the oven along with the food. This enables your food to get heated faster while maintaining the moisture content.
