Homemade Masks for Dry Skin

September 24, 2008

With the coming of winters, having a dry and scaly skin is very common due to harsh winds of winters. In addition, there are some people who naturally have dry skin due to genetic factors. This kind of skin is prone to frequent dehydration and thus requires regular moisturization. For such people, taking care of their dry skin becomes important so as to replace the dullness and dryness with some natural glow and radiance. Moreover, dry skin is more prone to wrinkles and fine lines and thus taking care of them becomes all the more necessary to prevent premature aging. Instead of running after cosmetic products, you can try some natural herbal facial masks which can help treat dry skin the natural way.

For dry skin people, an effective facial mask can be made at home by mixing one egg yolk with one teaspoon honey, one teaspoon olive oil and some vitamin E oil if available. Apply this mask on face for 15 minutes and then rinse it with lukewarm water. Similarly, another effective facial mask for dry skin can be made by taking ½ cup of avocado and ¼ cup of honey. Mash together these two ingredients to prepare a mask which should be applied to the face for about 5 minutes. Both honey and avocado are rich in moisturizing properties. Avocado is especially beneficial for dry skin as it is filled with monounsaturated fats, Vitamin B and E and other nutrients which are beneficial for moisturizing and rejuvenating dry skin.

To prevent wrinkles which are more common in dry skin people, make a natural paste of bananas, yogurt and honey and apply it on the face for 15-20 minutes. Follow these natural home made masks and treat your dull and dry skin the natural way.
