Homemade Foot Soak and Scrub

July 31, 2008

To keep one’s feet hydrated and soft, one needs to regularly moisturize them through an exfoliating product. This prevents the feet from getting dry, cracked and flaky and can thus help in ensuring the health and beauty of your feet. However, one need not always go in for market products as foot scrubs can be easily made at home and such scrubs can have a have much better effect on your feet as they are naturally made without any artificial stuff which could harm the skin.

To attain soft and silky feet, one can use of a milk and water foot soak which can be made at home by mixing water and milk and heating them in a stovetop or in a microwave. The mixture should be hot but within the comfort range of your feet. Then one should pour this mixture in a large bowl and soak one’s feet in it for at least 10 minutes to soften and moisturize one’s feet. Similarly, one can make a soak by mixing ½ cup sea salt, 3 slices of lime, 5 to 10 mint leaves and 5 drops of essential lime oil into a basin filled with warm water. One should then soak one’s feet in it to attain a relaxing and a rejuvenating effect. By combining egg and table salt, one can make a homemade exfoliating treatment for the feet which can be useful in the removal of dead skin and cells.

Just like simple foot soaks, foot scrubs can also be made naturally at home to keep one’s feet beautiful and healthy. For that, one needs to cut 3 limes into small pieces and pulse these pieces into a thick pulp by a food processor. Then one should mix 2 tsp of white sugar, 1 tsp of sweet almond oil, 15 chopped mint leaves and 5 drops of essential lime oil in a small bowl. You can then apply this home made scrub on your feet in a circular movement to provide a gentle massage to your foot which would ensure that they remain soft, silky and healthy.
