Homemade Body Scrubs

October 1, 2008

Scrubs are an essential part of beauty treatments as exfoliation is a process by which one gets rid of the dry, dull and peeling outer layer of skin which gets blocked with dirt. While there are many body scrubs available in the markets, you can go in for natural homemade ones. They are not only inexpensive as compared to costly cosmetic products, but can also be made according to a person’s skin sensitivity. This is because people, with sensitive skin usually get skin reactions due to some chemicals present in market products. So the safest and purest choice is to make body scrubs at home by following some given tips.

Use body scrubs and experience the difference in the way your skin feels. Since body scrubs are generally a luxury product, many people think that exfoliating the skin through scrubs is a luxury for those who can afford it. However, this is not the case as you too can use body scrubs without spending money. To make a scrub, you need a pair of naturally abrasive ingredient with a soothing and moisturizing base. The most common and practical natural base is sugar. It’s small grains and its ability to melt easily make it the least damaging abrasive. Thus, you can be sure that your body would only be benefited by the sugar based scrub, not harmed. To make a base, you need to start with your favorite fruit – strawberries, mangoes or bananas. Add a tablespoon of sugar for every two cups of thoroughly mashed fruit. For extra soothing power, add a tablespoon of honey for that extra smoothness and shine on your skin. Your homemade scrub is ready without any much of an effort; just use it to enhance the beauty of your skin so that it shines naturally.
