Home Remedies for Warts

March 27, 2009

An infection caused by virus, warts is an infection that spreads via skin to skin contact. This implies that a mere social gesture of handshake with a person infected with warts can lead to you catching the infection. Let’s first understand what warts really are.

Warts are a kind of skin growths that are in the shape of small mounds. They usually infect the hands, face, genitals and the feet of a person. As mentioned before, warts are caused by a virus and people with a weak immune system are more susceptible to it.

Let’s now look at the various home remedies for the treatment of warts. First of all, your diet needs to change. That is to say, include plenty of fruits like grapes, oranges, apples, pineapples, mangoes and papayas. An all fruit diet for few days, say up to 4 to 5 days can help you out. Similarly, other changes in the diet are also essential. As mentioned before, include fruits in your diet.

Additionally, after your fruit diet is over or if you are not going for an all fruit diet, you need some other healthy dietary changes. For example, you need a well balanced diet and especially provide your body with Vitamin C. You can also make a paste of Vitamin C tablets and apply it on the affected area.

Since we have talked about dietary changes, let’s now focus on certain ointments that can be made at home to get rid of warts. Rubbing cut onions on the affected parts or applying castor oil on warts can help get rid of them. Like castor oil, cashew nut oil can also be used for the same purpose.

Along with the above given home remedies, you need to avoid touch with people and also with other parts of your body to prevent warts from spreading. Also, keep yourself dry and avoid moist conditions as warts seem to enjoy wet and moist conditions like those found in moist socks. Also, don’t unnecessarily touch the affected portions. Follow these simple tips and naturally treat the problem of warts.
