Indigestion is one of the most common occurring ailment in people particularly of certain older age or those who live a sedentary form of life. However, this is not a problem which is associated with any particular age group as it can happen to anyone. Indigestion is a general term used to describe the symptoms of pain in stomach, bloating, acidity and even heartburns. It is generally caused by consuming heavy meal, eating fast without chewing, smoking, stress, pregnancy and even due to general changes in lifestyle. To prevent and treat the problem of indigestion, read below to find out some effective home remedies.

If you frequently suffer from the problem of indigestion, then you should put some lemon juice or cider vinegar in a glass of water and drink it before meal to prevent this problem. Similarly, avoiding heavy, fatty meals, regular exercising and avoiding excess of tension and stress are other preventive measures. However, if you are suffering from indigestion, then the following tips can aid in providing you comfort.

Mix equal parts of baking soda and water in a glass and drink at immediately at the onset of indigestion to effectively treat it in its initial stage. Similarly, one or two spoons of coriander juice, added to fresh buttermilk, is highly beneficial in treating digestive disorders. You can also take fresh juice of curry leaves, mix it with lime juice and sugar and drink it. If you want to enhance your digestive system so as to prevent the problem of indigestion, you should regularly eat half teaspoon of aniseed or take lemon juice mixed with warm water at least 3 times a day. Ginger tea after meals also helps in promoting digestion.
