Home Remedies for Hives
Hives is a kind of skin infection which leads to blotchy, itchy red patches on the skin. While they can be caused by an allergic reaction to foods like peanuts, or strawberries, they can also be triggered by various other factors like heat, cold, sunlight, stress and fever amongst others. While hives attack lasts for a short time, they can be quite itchy leading to discomfort and can also recur again. Given below are some home remedies which can prove effective in naturally getting rid of hives.
Usually applying ice to hives and affected areas can help in relieving the itchiness and discomfort associated with this skin problem. However, don’t try this if you cold is the trigger behind your hives. When you have hives, you should avoid any kind of heat, whether environmental or from hot water. This is because heat aggravates the problem and itching associated with hives. You also need to check out on the kinds of food items which can possibly trigger the hives attack in your body. Usually, food items like strawberries, nuts, chocolates, fresh berries and even milk can trigger a skin reaction. However, you need to find out about your particular triggers to prevent their intake. There are certain home remedies for treatment for hives. You can treat it using Aloe Vera gel. Apply the gel or vitamin E cream on the affected area to find relief. You can also treat hives using herbal tea. Also try dabbing milk of magnesia on the lesions for relief. Drinking peppermint or passionflower tea are considered as effective. Moreover, Soaking in an oatmeal bath for fifteen minutes can help in alleviating the itching caused by hives. However, remember to use lukewarm water rather than hot or very warm water.
These simple home remedies can help in alleviating the itchiness and discomfort associated with the problem of hives.
