Home Remedies For Herpes

September 2, 2008

A common viral infection, Herpes develops as skin problem due to the inflammation of the major sensory nerves. Caused by herpes simplex virus, herpes can either be oral herpes such as cold sores or fever blisters and it can also be genital herpes. It usually begins as a group of small red bumps that blister and though it is a common kind of skin disorder, it can slowly become dangerous too. Thus, one must take care and preventives to prevent and treat this problem as soon as possible. Given below are some natural and home made remedies which can help in the effective treatment of herpes.

First and foremost, to prevent the spread and aggravation of herpes, one needs to follow proper hygiene conditions. This involves washing hands frequently and strictly avoiding touching the sores to prevent their spread to other parts of the body. If one is suffering from genital herpes, one must keep the area clean and dry and women should avoid using talcum powder in the area as that might increase the risk of ovarian cancer. Similarly, one should avoid tight fitting clothes as that can restrict air circulation thereby restricting and slowing down the healing process. In addition, one should drink plenty of water and should keep one’s stress levels under control through yoga or meditation as stress is known to increase and aggravate the problem of herpes.

In addition to some basic preventive measures, one can follow some home made herbal remedies to effectively treat the problem of herpes. An effective remedy involves cooking one cup of olive oil in a pot and adding some bee wax and lavender oil in it. One should cool this mixture and then smear it on the affected area. Similarly, one can mix 5 bergamot oil drops to 5 eucalyptus oil drops and smear on the herpes after every few minutes. These natural home made remedies have been found quite effective in the fast and safe healing of herpes.
