Home Remedies for Burning Tongue
Also known as Burning Mouth Syndrome or glossodynia, Burning Tongue is a problem characterized by a continuous burning sensation in every corner of the tongue. Generally caused by yeast infection in the mouth, burning tongue can also occur due to bad oral habits, hormonal imbalances, acid reflux, medications and by deficiency of vitamin B12. the major symptoms of this problem consists of dry and sore mouth, burning sensation, loss of taste and even numbness on the tip of the tongue. By following the simple yet effective natural and herbal remedies, one can ward off this painful problem of burning tongue.
Chew the Gum: It has been found that one of the best home made remedies for burning tongue is the chewing a sugar free gum. Moreover, one should use baking soda in place of popularly used tooth pastes to attain the desired relief.
Change in Diet: Diet plays an important role in preventing as well as curing the problem of Burning Tongue. If you are suffering from this problem, then the basic condition demands giving up spicy and hot food for a while as they aggravate the burning and pain associated with this problem. Similarly, one should increase one’s intake of vitamin B complex either in the form of supplements or through vegetables and fruits. Eating iron rich foods can also help a great deal in alleviating the symptoms of burning tongue. Since dry tongues burn more, one should keep one’s body hydrated through proper intake of water.
Glycerin: According to some experts, putting glycerin on the tongue can help in soothing the area thereby providing relief from pain and burning sensation associated with this problem. Similarly, one can apply an ice cube to cool the mouth region.
By following some basic natural and home made remedies, one can free oneself from the painful problem of burning tongue.
