April 27, 2009

noseblockedAre you frequently prone to sneezes, cold, flu and stuffed and blocked nose? If yes, then you might be one of those who have a weak immune system, which in turn implies that you are easily susceptible to infections. Blocked nose is a common problem and is often a by product of cold and flu.

Though common, this problem is extremely discomforting and irritable as you wouldn’t find yourself comfortable with a nose that is blocked and stuffed, making it difficult for you to breathe normally.

Here are some home remedies that can help you effectively get over the problem of blocked nose. If your problem of blocked nose is a result of some allergic reaction, then you need to find out that allergen and stay away from it to prevent this problem from recurring.

Allergens can be anything- from pollens to environmental conditions to specific food items.

You must have often heard of the benefits of steam and how it helps in providing you relief from cold and blocked nose. Steaming is always beneficial.

Additionally, you need to keep your nasal passage clean and clear for healthy breathing and for that, you need to wash it with saline water. This acts like a natural nasal spray and helps in preventing and treating the problem of blocked and stuffed nose.

Since blocked nose is often a result of cold, you need to keep your cold under check. Having warm soups and teas, especially herbal ones help. Mint and ginger teas in particular are extremely beneficial as along with helping in the natural treatment of blocked nose, they provide you with immediate relief and comfort.

Mustard oil can be used for massaging the outer sections of the nose as it is a natural remedy for the problem of blocked nose. Other alternative treatments like acupressure and breathing exercises also help in providing natural relief from this problem.
