Home Remedies for Abdominal Cramps

Cramps in any part of the body are painful. Abdominal cramps usually affect women more than men, and in most of the cases, they are associated with menstrual cycles. Additionally, abdominal cramps can also be caused by upset stomach, gas, allergies, food poisoning, overstretching of abdominal muscles and others. There are many over the counter drugs and medications available to provide relief from abdominal cramps. However, this article intends to acquaint you with various home remedies for abdominal cramps.

Walking and doing mild exercise helps in relieving pain caused due to abdominal cramps as exercise helps in improving the circulation and blood flow in the body. Additionally, it also helps in easing the muscle tension. Focus on your breathing, meditate and do some deep breathing exercises as that helps in relieving pain. Additionally, you can also apply a warm compressor or a hot bottle to soothe the aching region.

To get relief from stomach or abdominal cramps, you should eat a mixture a crushed fenugreek seeds paste and curd. This helps in naturally soothing the cramping area. Also, avoid intake of fatty and fried stuff and also avoid caffeinated drinks. Eat small and frequent meals rather than overstuffing your stomach at one go. Also increase intake of fiber as that aids your digestive system, helping reduce stomach cramping caused by indigestion and other digestion related problems.

Try to stay away from stress as stress aggravates abdominal cramps. You can try various kinds of stress management and de-stressing techniques for this. Deep breathing is one of the best ways which not only helps in de-stressing a person, but also aids a great deal in subduing the pain associated with abdominal cramps.

Thus, follow the above given steps to naturally get relief from abdominal pain. However, remember to visit a doctor if your pain refuses to budge.
