Hearty Nuts
It has been found that eating nuts can help your heart remain fit and healthy as nuts are believed to reduce the chances of heart diseases. Nuts are excellent sources of proteins, healthy mono unsaturated fats and other nutrients which help in promoting a healthy cardiovascular system. Thus, incorporating a variety of nuts in one’s diet leads to numerous health benefits.
By consuming a variety of nuts, one can lower the risk of heart disease as nuts have been found to lower ‘bad’ cholesterol. In addition to the cardiac benefits of consuming nuts, nuts also have the health benefits of reducing the risk of having a stroke, of developing diabetes, of developing dementia and of advanced macular degeneration . Nuts like Almonds contain a rich source of magnesium, potassium, manganese, calcium and Vitamin E which in turn help in the increased colon function and they also help in reducing cholesterol thereby leading to the overall health of the cardiovascular system. Nuts like Walnuts are a great source of omega-3 fatty acids which along with helping in the protection of heart, also helps in improving cognitive function and reducing inflammatory effects of asthma, eczema and rheumatoid. Cashews contain the lowest percentage of fats and they are rich in magnesium, copper, iron, zinc and biotin.
Peanuts are no longer just peanuts as they are an excellent source of vitamin B including foliate, riboflavin, and niacin. All these help in the healthy metabolism and growth of the body and a deficiency of them can cause fatigue and muscle degeneration. Brazil nuts are another set of important nuts which are known to prevent breast cancer. This benefit is largely due to its constituent selenium which is a powerful antioxidant helping in the prevention of heart diseases and cancer.
Thus, one needs to redefine the one-liner “Don’t work for nuts” as nuts are no longer just nuts as they play a pivotal role in maintaining the health of a person. So, one can now truly go nuts over nuts.
