Health Benefits of Pepper
You must have often added some black pepper in your food when sitting on your dinning table. They are a great way to spice up the bland food as they add flavor, color and crunch to many dishes. But when adding that spice in your food, were you aware that it has numerous health benefits. Pepper has been used in Ayurvedic since ages as a herbal medicine due to its antioxidant and antibacterial properties. Popularly known for its digestive help, pepper has numerous other health benefits which are listed below in detail.
Peppers are rich in Vitamins A, C and K. the primary use of black pepper is in relation to digestive ailments. The spicy components cause the stomach to produce more hydrochloric acid, which in turn aid digestion. It is thus beneficial for the treatments of ailments like gas, heartburn, nausea, diarrhea and constipation. Don’t think that if your digestive system is healthy, the role of pepper in your body is over. Apart from digestive malaises, pepper is useful for various other purposes. It is considered a “warming” spice which enhances the effect of other herbs throughout the body. It also helps in enhancing oxygen supply to the body along with aiding the brain to get adequate oxygen. Not to forget- it keeps your joints and respiratory system healthy.
Along with enhancing the overall health of the body, pepper can also be used for the treatment of insect bites. Insomnia, hernia, lung disease, heart ailments, liver problems, sunburns, and even toothaches can be benefited by the intake of black pepper. On a lighter tone- pepper sprays are a good self-defense weapon.
