Health Benefits of Kiwi

Kiwi is an exotic fruit with a unique appearance of green, creamy flesh and tiny black seeds. Being a small fruit of approximately 3 inches, it is packed with nutrition and health benefits. It is an excellent source of vitamin C and fiber along with containing adequate amount of vitamin A and E, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium and copper. The main benefit of this exotic fruit with a wonderful flavor is that it acts a source of vitamins and minerals and is an active participant in promoting one’s health and fitness.
Promoting Respiratory-tract Health
Studies have shown that kiwis with their rich vitamin C content are effective against respiratory-related health problems like wheezing, shortness of breath and coughing. Research has found out that kiwis can also help to improve the conditions of asthmatic children.

Good for Heart
Research conducted in Norway revealed that consumption of three kiwis a day can lead to reduction in blood clots by eighteen percent. This fruit is rich in phytonutrients which prevent blood clotting and control fatty acid levels in one’s blood.

Tone one’s skin
Kiwis contain ascorbic acid which works as an astringent to neutralize bacteria and tighten the skin’s pores.

Healthy Dietary fiber
Kiwi is packed with loads of dietary fiber which help in regulating blood sugar. Moreover, it also helps in reducing the probability of colon cancer.

Protection from Age-Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD)
A series of studies published by the Archives of Ophthalmology have shown that consuming 3 or more servings of fruit per day can reduce the risk of developing an eye-related disease called ARMD (the primary cause of vision impairment in adults).

Black seeds
Kiwis’ black seeds can be crushed to produce kiwi fruit oil which is very rich in Alfa-Linoleic Acid and is an important Omega-3 essential fatty acid.

There is also a study which claims that kiwis contain in them a substance like flavonoids which helps prevent our DNA from mutations and damage. So, one can savor the taste of this exotic fruit along with enjoying its health benefits.
